

On November 13, supporters, families, and partners gathered at Venue West for a milestone evening celebrating 25 years of First Tee – Greater Chicago. The event brought together long-time champions and new friends for a night that highlighted the organization’s impact, honored its history, and looked ahead to its future.
The program featured meaningful conversations led by CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis, who engaged Coach Brandon, participants Braulio and Jasmine, and other special guests in reflections on mentorship, opportunity, and the power of community. Attendees also heard from Superintendent Larry Snelling, whose remarks underscored the importance of investing in youth and creating spaces where they can thrive.
A centerpiece of the evening was the recognition of three families whose leadership and generosity have shaped First Tee – Greater Chicago’s growth over the last quarter century: the Lesnik, Merrill, and Waddell families. Their long-standing commitment has helped create pathways for thousands of young people to build character, cultivate confidence, and discover new possibilities through golf.
The celebration proved to be not only inspirational but historic. Thanks to the overwhelming support of those in attendance, the event raised a record-breaking $655,000, fueling the organization’s mission and expanding opportunities for the next generation.
